Environmental Data
Environmental data represents information that changes over time. StreetLight collects and scores such data from a wide variety of sources, and uses it to contextualize other data assets in order to answer complex questions. Examples of environmental data in StreetLight's database include:
- Weather
- Road conditions
- Traffic conditions and traffic complexity
- Visibility of signs/sites along the road based on seasons
- Sun instance/glare
- What is located near the road (residence, store type, etc)
Note: StreetLight also has extensive analytics about the environmental impact (fuel use, emissions) as part of the performance modeling capability.
Route Science supports the incorporation of new types of environmental data. Customers interested in a type of environmental data not listed above should contact us to find out more.
The Route Science platform combines this data with other data about demographics, driver behavior, incidents, roadway conditions, and traffic to provide novel insights into site selection, usage based insurance, and transportation services.
