On May 24, StreetLight Data was named the winner of IBM's 2012 SmartCamp NYC for Smart Cities. This is part of IBM's Smarter Planet initiative. StreetLight will go on to compete in Boston next month for the title of North American Entrepreneur of the year. Previous winners in the IBM Smart Camp program include great companies like StreetLine, Profitero, Bit Carrier, and more.
Here's what the folks at IBM had to say about us in their blog:
All companies were very strong however StreetLight Data were selected by the judges having best demonstrated the entrepreneurial passion needed to build a big business. Their solution helps retailers and planners find the best locations by knowing where target potential customers go already. This blends together Smarter Commerce with Smart Cities and we look forward to working with Laura and the team.
StreetLight was selected as one of four finalist from a submission pool of well over 100 start-ups and was selected by a panel of judges from IBM, Citi Group, and ReedSmith after a day of presentations and discussion.
StreetLight is thrilled to be selected, and glad that IBM has validated our vision of a Smarter City that relies on better transportation information to make decisions about infrastructure, retail, and more.
