Laura Schewel (Board, CEO)

Laura, founder and Chief Executive Officer, is a leading advocate and researcher in advanced transportation, with particular expertise in transportation systems, sustainability and safety, and vehicle/system modeling and analysis.

After completing degrees in engineering and comparative literature at Yale University, she worked at the Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), managing their vehicle electrification projects, including the Smart Garage Charrette and Project Get Ready. Next, Laura joined the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to develop planning for regulatory strategy for electric vehicles and energy storage. Laura’s work at StreetLight is an extension of her graduate studies at UC Berkeley’s Energy and Resources Group. She is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in Energy Engineering, and the author of several publications about vehicle electrification and sustainable transportation.


Paul Friedman (Board, CTO)

Paul, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in engineering and product management of business intelligence, analytics, database architectures and Big Data technologies. He has started three successful software companies and has built four successful engineering teams that delivered many scalable SaaS analytics applications.

Paul served as a software engineer at the MIT Media Lab, DEC, and Oracle. He later co-founded and served as Vice President, Chief Technology Officer or Chief Architect at Stanford Technology Group (acquired by Informix), Supplybase (acquired by I2 Technologies), and Purisma (acquired by Dun & Bradstreet). Paul has a MS and BS in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Kara John Selke (VP of Strategic Partners and Privacy)

Kara has unparalleled experience in developing businesses that rely on strategic licensing and partnerships for geospatial data. Most recently, Kara served as SVP of Intellectual Property and Privacy for DMTI Spatial, the leading provider of SaaS and hybrid cloud based geospatial business intelligence in Canada. Prior to DMTI, Kara was in marketing, data relationships and management roles at Navitrak and NAVTEQ. She is a certified licensing professional, and holds a JD from Concord Law School.

In addition to her experience in data licensing and partnerships, Kara is a global leader in the field of data privacy. She holds several certifications in privacy protection procedures by the IAPP and is a Privacy by Design Ambassador. She co-founded the Center for Geospatial Law and Policy. Kara holds additional degrees from Boston University and Clark University.


Neil Vaz (VP of Engineering)

Neil has over 15 years of experience in software development, covering enterprise SaaS applications, data analytics, and database systems. Before joining Streetlight Data, he spent 8 years at Purisma (acquired by Dun & Bradstreet, and later SAP), where he led the Engineering team, delivering multiple product releases. As an early member of the team there, he also developed some of the core algorithms in the product.

In addition, Neil has worked at i2 Technologies, Tandem Computer and Informix Software. He has a B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.


Catherine Manzo (Senior Director of Sales and Customer Engagement)

Catherine's experience spans across a wide range of technology companies. Before joining StreetLight Data, Catherine did business development and marketing at SK Telecom Americas, where she helped launch GridMaven, a comprehensive communications network management platform for the US utility market. She has spent time in a variety of strategy and business development roles, including Walmart's sustainability team. She began her career focused on consumer products and materials, working with Cradle to Cradle® design firm MBDC and the US Environmental Protection Agency. Catherine holds a BS in Earth and Environmental Engineering from Columbia University, a Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management. 


Kimberly Gische (Lead QA and Support Engineer)

Kimberly's career has spanned more than 20 years at several successful technology companies in the Bay Area. Her experience includes all aspects of software development, with a more recent focus on Quality Assurance and Customer Support. Prior to joining Streetlight Data, Kimberly spent 9 years at Purisma (acquired by Dun & Bradstreet, and later SAP) where she was initially a member of the QA team and later built and led the Escalated Support Group. Her previous experience includes developing and supporting lab tracking software for a genomics lab at PE Genscope/Celera Genomics/Applied Biosystems, as well as honing database skills while working in linguistics at Oracle. Kimberly studied Symbolic Systems at Stanford University.


Roy Seto (Software Architect)

Roy has an extensive background in software engineering with a longstanding interest in building scalable systems that started during his days hacking code for distributed clusters as an MIT undergrad. Before StreetLight Data, he worked at Oracle for 19 years, where he served as a Software Architect and later a Senior Director. Roy's accomplishments at Oracle include creating the analytics systems that track development metrics for the flagship Fusion Applications product line and leading a team that built a service to host millions of file versions. Roy was instrumental in automating Oracle's first private cloud for development operations, and he contributed to Oracle's transition to cloud applications products. Roy earned a MS and BS in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.


Winnie Chan (Senior Software Engineer)

Winnie has 13 years of experience in software engineering, healthcare information technology and full-stack web application development. Prior to StreetLight, she spent 3 years at MedeAnalytics, as part of the team developing the Patient Access Intelligence product for hospital clients. Earlier in her career, Winnie spent 8 years at EFI developing embedded systems that interface between copiers and printer drivers. She also had a short stint in healthcare imaging.  Winnie holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley and a Masters in Software Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.  


Austin Shieh (Software Engineer)

Austin is a 2013 graduate of the University of California Berkeley, where he received a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. With a focus on computer science, he completed a senior design class in computer graphics, in which he studied cloth simulation. Over the past few years, Austin has worked in QA for CSRWare, a sustainability supply chain and energy management software start-up and done QA and programming for Good Work Systems, a company building new mouses and foot pedals for the gaming industry. While completing his degree at UC Berkeley, Austin also was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega, the community service fraternity.


Bo Huang (Senior Software Engineer)

Bo has over 20 years of experience in software engineering across a variety of industries. For the past decade, he has focused on back-end application development for the insurance industry. He first began working in this space upon his arrival in the Bay Area, initially at SelectQuot and its subsidiary, Integrated Insurance Technologies. Through acquisitions, Bo then worked at SkyWare Software and, most recently, in the Insurance Data Exchange group at Oracle. Before insurance, Bo did software engineering for Bright Ocean, which provides services to Chinese telecom companies, and, one of China’s oldest travel planning and booking websites.  He holds a BS in Computer Science from the Harbin Institute of Technology.  


David Ziegler (Senior Software Engineer)

David brings with him 10 years of experience in software and web development. Over the course of his career, David has focused on full-stack development, with a particular emphasis on python programming. David began his career at Numenta, where he worked on machine learning and computer vision. Over the past decade, David has done web development for the non-profit Citizen Engagement Lab, worked as the lead develop for Mingle, an early online dating website, and has worked on a variety of independent projects and applications. Prior to joining StreetLight, David co-founded and led technical development for the e-commerce company Cloth & Dagger. David earned BA degrees in Math and Economics from Case Western Reserve University and an MS in Management Science and Operations from Stanford University. 


Thorsten Bach (Director of IT and Operations)

Thorsten has 20 years of experience in strategic and operational planning and has been involved with SaaS environments since their inception a little over 10 years ago. Over the course of his career, he has overseen the successful integration of new infrastructure during company acquisitions and has architected a number of scalable and efficient procedural systems. Prior to StreetLight, he was the Technical Program Manager at Honeywell Smart Grid Solutions where he delivered significant process improvement in IT and security. Earlier in his career in the role of Director of Operations and Support at Telecommunications System (TCS), Thorsten was a founding member of the Network Security Advisory Team, which oversees standardized security implementations across all TCS business units. At TCS and the biotechnology company IKnowMed, he managed significant infrastructure growth by building highly qualified and efficient teams in operations, QA and support. Before delving into the technology industry, Thorsten co-founded and served as the CEO of a music video company in Germany.

Youhong Huang (QA Engineer)

Youhong brought with him years of QA experience across three software companies when joining StreetLight Data. During his time working for leading software and service providers, including SAP (SAP EIM) and Microsoft Visual Studio at Microsoft (Visual Studio), he managed high priority support cases and worked closely with development teams in feature, performance and automation testing.  Like others at StreetLight, Youhong was a part of Purisma, serving as the Senior QA Engineer.  Youhong received his Bachelor of Computer Software from Tsinghua University in Beijing and now lives in Vancouver with his wife and young son.

Jennifer Wise (Account Executive)

Jennifer’s experience spans across a wide range of industries from the technology industry to restaurants. Prior to joining StreetLight Data, Jennifer did outside Sales for Mondo, where she helped technology executives meet their initiatives and project deadlines through technology specific staffing services.  She began her career at Bluewolf, with a focus on technical consulting services in the cloud specifically for implementations & customizations as well as database and operating systems support. Jennifer holds a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Business Administration from Cal State Fullerton.


Seth Golub (VP, Customer Success)

Seth is an accomplished sales and customer success executive, bringing over 20 years of experience in traffic data science, CPG/retail and location-based solutions to his role.  As chief customer officer for three successful SaaS and data startups, Seth grew multi-million-dollar, high-growth revenue relationships with marquee public, enterprise and consulting customers, while maintaining 100% client referencability, on-time/budget delivery and “top box” customer satisfaction/net promoter scores.  Seth’s education includes a BA in Public Policy and Engineering from Princeton University, an MBA with honors from NYU/Stern, and an MA in Counseling and Organizational Psychology.

Kim Harrison (Account Executive)

Kim began her data career as an Account Manager for a Dun and Bradstreet Company (Market Data Retrieval) and then spent twelve years at Acxiom as a Client Executive, supporting financial industry and partnerships, and generating millions of dollars in revenue.  Kim then ran her own company, Marketing-Q, providing database solutions for seven years.  Most recently she worked in business development at Soffront (Enterprise CRM solutions).  Kim has a BA in International Trade from UC Davis.
