Estimating Statewide Park Visitation with StreetLight with Raven McKnight, Associate Data Scientist for the Metropolitan Council in Minnesota
Raven McKnight shares how StreetLight was used to estimate visitor counts to Minnesota parks as well as provide visitor demographics that surpassed the breadth of information that traditional park use estimation methods allow.


Using StreetLight to Analyze Multi-Modal Activity in Southwestern PA with Erika Eagan, Transportation Models & Data Analyst for Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (SPC)
To improve accessibility to the new Innovation Corridor in Southwestern Pennsylvania, Erika Eagan and colleagues at SPC used StreetLight Zone Analyses to identify high activity areas that may lack suitable routes (paths, trails, sidewalks, etc.) for multi-modal travel and determine whether existing routes were being used.

Architect, planning director of MIT SENSEable City Lab, and founder of international design firm, CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati

Carlo Ratti is a leading voice in the debate on new technologies’ impact on urban life and design. He has co-authored over 500 publications and holds several technical patents. Blueprint Magazine included him as one of the ‘25 People Who Will Change the World of Design’, Forbes listed him as one of the ‘Names You Need To Know’, and Fast Company named him as one of the ’50 Most Influential Designers in America’. Three of his projects – the Digital Water Pavilion, the Copenhagen Wheel and Scribit – have been included by TIME Magazine in the list of the ‘Best Inventions of the Year’. His work has been exhibited worldwide at venues such as the Venice Biennale, the Design Museum Barcelona, the Science Museum in London, MAXXI in Rome, and MoMA in New York City.

Michael Hare is a project manager in HNTB’s Kansas City office focused on transportation planning. His work primarily consists of corridor studies along with interstate access modification requests. Michael is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Kansas and a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. He lives in Overland Park with his wife and two growing kids.

Chris McCahill, PhD

Chris McCahill, PhD, is the Managing Director of the State Smart Transportation Initiative (SSTI), a program of the University of Wisconsin and Smart Growth America that supports a network of state transportation agencies from across the U.S. committed to sustainability, equity, and transparent governance. He also serves on the Transportation Commission and the Transportation Policy and Planning Board for the City of Madison.

Rayla Bellis is Smart Growth America’s Director of Thriving Communities, overseeing work at the intersection of transportation, land use, public health, resilience, community design, and Complete Streets. In previous roles at SGA, Rayla led National Complete Streets Coalition workshops, provided technical assistance to state departments of transportation, and worked with metropolitan planning organizations and other transportation agencies and stakeholders to support better transportation access for all.

Bert Granberg

Bert Granberg leads the Analytics group at Wasatch Front Regional Council, the metropolitan planning organization for the Salt Lake City – Ogden metro area. Prior experience includes directing the Utah Geospatial Resource Center and service as a member of the National Geospatial Advisory Committee and the National States Geographic Information Council board of directors.

Casey Bruno

Casey Bruno

Casey Bruno, AICP is a Senior Transportation Planner with the Longwood Collective. In this role, she assists in the implementation of various planning and development efforts related to the enhancement of Boston’s Longwood Medical and Academic (LMA) neighborhood through transportation planning and travel demand management strategies. She also serves as the lead transportation planner for technical assistance efforts designed to meet institutional needs for parking and multimodal transportation access and to identify the needs of pedestrians, bicycles, transit, and vehicles in the LMA neighborhood.

Catrina Meyer

Catrina Meyer, AICP, GISP is a transportation planner in Stantec’s Urban Mobility Group. Catrina is passionate about synthesizing data to drive decision making and improve communities through safer, more equitable, and more sustainable mobility options. Catrina has been part of transit market analysis studies, regional mobility plans, transportation impact assessments, and transit evaluations.

Panini Chowdhury

Panini Chowdhury is a certified transportation planning & safety professional with experience in the government sectors in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and academia in Bangladesh. He likes to describe himself as a “hawker,” selling the dream of dignity in human mobility, transportation equity, and a strong public transit-dominated transportation future. His professional expertise includes traffic safety, transportation planning, transit accessibility, geospatial and statistical analysis, and travel demand modeling.

Erika Eagan

Erika Eagan designs, operates, and interprets travel and forecast models as a Transportation Data & Models Analyst for the Southwestern PA Commission (SPC) in Pittsburgh, PA. She uses her knowledge of emerging technologies to approach complex analyses and support multi-modal planning across the MPO’s 10-county region, leveraging her skills to evaluate accessibility, identify infrastructure gaps that inhibit multi-modal activity, and strategize improvements to increase access to transport options

Raven McKnight

Raven McKnight is an Associate Data Scientist on the Community Development Research Team at the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities. She uses location-based services data to analyze visitation to state and regional parks in Minnesota. Previously, she worked with public transit direct demand models at Metro Transit and studied statistics, geography, and creative writing at Macalester College.

Alicia Ulmes

Alicia Ulmes is a Traffic Engineer for GPI in New Jersey. For the past 10 plus years, she has performed traffic signal optimization, traffic modeling, signal design, traffic data collection, processing and assessment, and controller programming for NJDOT as well as other agencies. She has used StreetLight’s origin-destination data in a number of projects and is currently working with StreetLight’s AADT products.

Ken Hausman

Ken Hausman is a Senior Traffic Engineer with GPI in Lebanon, New Jersey. Prior to joining GPI in 2019, he was an independent consultant for twenty years specializing in the areas of Travel Demand Forecasting and Traffic Simulation Modeling. For the past 10 plus years, he has used StreetLight Data for multiple projects for the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the Turnpike Authority. He is also currently using StreetLight Data for the Corridor H project in West Virginia

Don Bryson

Don Bryson is an experienced transportation engineer and planner who supports campus transportation plans, corridor studies, and transit plans providing project management, technical analysis, and public involvement support. As a consultant, he helps resolve conflicts that arise in complex, multimodal transportation studies. He has been directly involved in a number of VHB’s recent corridor studies and has been especially focused on developing and documenting effective recommendation packages and implementation strategies.
