There’s a lot of science — or should be, at least — behind where, exactly, to put a rapidly growing number of electric-vehicle charging stations.
Automakers, electric utility companies, local and state governments and other parties are embarked on a charging-station building binge, ahead of a hoped-for increase in EV adoption.
StreetLight recently announced it’s working with global electronics giant Siemens AG on a project to analyze where the Silicon Valley city of Santa Clara, CA should put additional, publicly available EV charging stations, part of a city Climate Action Plan aimed in part at facilitating the phase-in of electric vehicles.
“Santa Clara doesn’t want to just build as many charging stations as possible,” said Laura Schewel, StreetLight CEO and co-founder. “They want to push development in certain places across the city.”
