Director of Private Transportation Markets (Any Major US City)

The Director will work in the fast-evolving private transportation market, which is one of StreetLight Data’s fastest growing verticals. This includes private providers of new modes of transportation such as Uber, Lyft, bike share companies, automakers exploring new mobility business models, the autonomous vehicle industry, electric vehicle charging solutions providers, private infrastructure and toll developers, and much more. In addition, this person will manage accounts in adjacent spaces such as street furniture/outdoor advertising and real estate risk assessment.

This role fuses go-to-market strategy, business development, and sales. Successful candidates will have experience tackling complex problems, fostering relationships, and developing and then executing their own strategies. Previous experience can include business development, customer success, strategy and/or strategic sales, management or strategic consulting.

This position will report to the VP of Sales and collaborate with the CEO and head of product to expand our presence in this dynamic market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive business plans and drive the execution of go-to-market and selling strategies for the private transportation market. This includes understanding the markets’ business, pricing levers, and data gaps.
  • Design and execute account plans for accounts flagged as critical from business plan work.
  • Manage and develop key partnerships to expand business in both current and new geographies.
  •  Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop vertical-specific collateral and features.
  • Drive sales to new customers and expand existing relationships through annual and multi-year contracts.
  • Keep up-to-date with market trends and new developments, and utilize this information for business development and improvement.
  • Conduct ongoing meetings and events with key customer decision-makers with the goal of uncovering and closing new opportunities.
  • Attend relevant industry trade shows to identify new prospective customers, and promptly follow up on leads from various sources.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or MS/MA in engineering field is a plus.

  • Comfort with maintaining a quota for sales to this vertical.

Transportation Solution Engineer (Multiple Locations - US and Canada)

The Transportation Solution Engineer will work together with the Strategic Account Representatives to identify, sell to, and support new customers in the transportation and urban planning industries. The Transportation Solution Engineer will have strong data analysis skills and be comfortable presenting to large audiences.  Previous experience working in engineering, construction, transportation, government agencies, and/or architecture is desired. There are multiple openings for this position in the US and Canada.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Sales team to introduce StreetLight Data’s unique technology to prospective customers and to implement pilot projects.
  • Define and implement technical solutions based on the StreetLight InSight platform to meet customer needs.
  • Work with Product Management and Engineering to define the product road-map based on interactions with customers.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to guide development of sales materials, lead webinars, and prepare presentations for industry conferences and events.
  • Interface with other functional groups, project teams and internal stakeholders to effectively resolve issues and remove barriers toward the goal of jointly achieving assigned quotas.

Skills and Qualifications:

Territory Sales Representative (Canada)

The Territory Sales Representative will identify and sell to new Engineering customers in the transportation and urban planning industries. The Territory Sales Representative has a proven track record of successfully achieving and surpassing quota goals, and has demonstrated success at identifying new, high-value opportunities. Previous experience selling to engineering, construction, transportation, and/or government agencies is desired.

Senior Data Engineer (San Francisco, CA)

StreetLight Data is seeking a strong data engineer to be part of our growing Engineering team.  This team member will work on automating and scaling our data processing pipeline, and develop and productize new analytics algorithms into the StreetLight InSight platform.  This position reports to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement components within the StreetLight InSight data processing pipeline (from raw input files to optimized tables used for analyses).
  • Tune the StreetLight InSight  processing pipeline for performance and scalability, and automate it to allow for for hands-off operations.
  • Develop new analytics algorithms, using a deep understanding of the raw data.
  • Implement customized analytics for clients in collaboration with Sales.
  • Work with Product Management and Application teams to productize data analytics algorithms into the StreetLight InSight web application.
  • Contribute to science projects as appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BS / MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or an Engineering discipline from a top university.

Director of QA (San Francisco, CA)

StreetLight Data is seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of QA (Quality Assurance) to to be part of our growing team. This team member will own quality for StreetLight software and data products, and reports to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure high quality for the StreetLight InSight® web application, as well as for incoming raw data and our processed analytics.
  • Lead the current QA team, and hire new team members as per the hiring plan.
  • Provide mentorship to senior and junior team members, and evolve QA processes as the team grows.
  • Plan and deliver monthly releases on time, jointly with Engineering and Product Management.
  • Collaborate with Support and Operations teams on customer cases and deployments as necessary.
  • Create, maintain and implement a strategy for QA automation for the web application, raw data, and processed analytics.
  • Contribute to QA tasks in a hands-on role.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science / Mathematics / Engineering field from a top-tier university.
  • 10+ years of experience in QA at a software company, with 5+ years in a leadership role.

Data Scientist (San Francisco, CA)

StreetLight Data is seeking a creative, versatile, and motivated Data Scientist to be part of our growing team. This team member will lead data science projects to develop exciting new algorithms for our product, as well as help productize those algorithms into our scalable StreetLight InSight analytics platform. This position reports to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design algorithms to infer key transportation patterns from various data sources.
  • Research and implement suitable strategies (e.g. regression models, neural networks, etc.) for solving data science problems.
  • Find and build real-world data sets for training various models and doing quality checks.
  • Productize data science algorithms within the StreetLight InSight Data platform, in collaboration with the Application Engineering team.
  • Create visualizations and dashboards to help tell stories with data.
  • Define and implement customized and/or cutting-edge solutions for customers.

Skills and Qualifications:

StreetLight Data is seeking a high caliber software engineer to be part of our growing team. This team member will work on both the frontend and backend of the StreetLight InSight SaaS web application that our subscription customers use to explore and visualize travel patterns in the real world. This position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain customer-facing features, including both frontend and backend components, in the StreetLight InSight SaaS web application and analytics serving pipeline.
  • Deliver product releases to production each month.
  • Write automated unit tests and participate in peer design and code reviews.
  • Collaborate daily with the other developers and QA engineers on the team as well as with Product Management.

Technical Support Engineer (Richmond, VA or San Francisco, CA)

StreetLight Data is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to help our clients solve transportation problems using StreetLight InSight, our online platform. This team member will work closely with planners, modelers, and engineers, helping them put Big Data to work for transportation.

In addition to providing comprehensive support and training, the Technical Support Engineer will play a key role in developing new materials and best practices that ensure our clients use StreetLight InSight to its maximum potential. This position reports to the Manager, Support and can be based in either our Richmond, VA or San Francisco, CA office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-level and escalated technical support for users of the StreetLight InSight platform.
  • Develop clear tutorials and training videos to show how StreetLight InSight can answer key transportation questions.
  • Run regular and on-demand training webinars for new users.  Create and maintain support content and FAQs.
  • Manage a high volume of inbound requests in a timely and organized manner. Improve processes to handle support requests.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Engineering and Product Management, to make StreetLight InSight as easy-to-use as possible.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS and/or MS from an Engineering, Transportation or Urban Planning discipline.

Summary:

The Customer Success Executive will work with existing major customers in the transportation and urban planning industries ensuring that our products get implemented successfully. Previous experience working with engineering, construction, transportation, and/or government agencies is helpful to success in the role and desired.

As a Customer Success Executive, you will have a portfolio of key customers you manage. This role will report to the Senior Director of Customer Success.  As an early member of the Customer Success team at StreetLight Data, you will have the opportunity to help set the groundwork and develop the internal processes to build a world-class program.

Key responsibilities will include:

Customer Activation

  • Oversee training and outreach to users at customer accounts to ensure widespread use of the StreetLight InSight; Coordinate with StreetLight’s support team for on-site trainings, generally held quarterly.  
  • Proactively communicate and train users about regular feature enhancements to ensure understanding and adoption.
  • Evangelize our products to new departments within the customer accounts to help grow the user base. This involves demonstrations, hands-on training, etc. both in-person and via webinar.
  • Regularly communicate with management at customers and develop action plans based on high priority projects at each organization.
  • As appropriate, attend conferences and events in customer regions to build awareness and share use cases for StreetLight InSight

Customer Satisfaction

  • Facilitate regular customer feedback sessions about StreetLight’s products, including surveys, on-site workshops, and one:one communications.
  • Communicate customer feedback to StreetLight’s Product team to help drive the product roadmap and provide input on feature prioritization.
  • Oversee communication with customer management about subscription use and ROI.
  • Provide proactive outreach, training, and light professional services work to help our major clients have overwhelming success in their subscriptions. This work may include tasks like drafting reports and designing custom dashboards within StreetLight InSight platform. This will require a deep understanding of customer needs, storying telling with data, and data visualization proficiency.
  • Provide project management and any necessary deliverable and report drafting for customer data science deliveries or major professional services engagements.
  • Regularly communicate with users and do deep dives into customer questions that may require in-depth data explanation, creation of visualizations, etc.

Customer Renewals

  • Work in tandem with Sales Reps and Solutions Engineers for the region to ensure full renewal of all customer subscriptions.This includes developing ROI justifications for renewal, aiding in responses to Requests for Proposals or other similar processes, as well as any demonstrations.

Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience working as a technical sales representative, technical customer success/account management representative, or engineer/planner.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proficiency with analytical software tools. Bonus for SaaS tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter and able to manage in a fast-paced job environment.
  • Bonus for experience in managing government or transportation customers, or experience in transportation planning and analytics.

This position can be based in any city on the East Coast. Regular travel to customer sites and the San Francisco headquarters will be required.
