Product Marketing Manager (San Francisco, CA or Richmond, VA)

StreetLight Data, the pioneer in Big Data for mobility, is revolutionizing transportation and urban planning to help the world better deploy infrastructure and adapt to new forms of mobility. From legacy systems to ride sharing and bike sharing to autonomous vehicles, our platform powers 1,500+ mobility projects every month for government and private clients, and we're just getting started.

StreetLight Data is seeking its first Product Marketing hire, responsible for customer insight, go-to-market strategy, launching and growing our mobility platform products. Join us for a unique opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, from helping shape the product, to driving launch and commercialization, to growing product adoption post-launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive marketing programs for StreetLight platform and related products, creating audience-relevant product narratives and scaling reach through a range of digital and event channels.
  • Establish a process and conduct ongoing research to be the expert on our buyer personas, their value system, and their decision criteria
  • Work across a variety of data sources and develop new ones to derive insights for how to shape the product and compelling messaging to internal and external audiences
  • Become StreetLight platform’s lead storyteller.  Develop a deep empathy with our users and test communications to engage a range of buy-decision influencers, from transportation engineer to executive.
  • Manage new product launch efforts including end-to-end project management and the development of core content to support the launch objectives
  • Serve as subject matter expert for the competitive environment and StreetLight’s competitive position
  • As the first PMM hire, set a high bar for the new product marketing organization

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in technology product marketing
  • Proven track record of creating content that aligns to buying stages and increases conversion rates
  • Strong analytics, communication and writing skills critical
  • Points for clear examples of creative problem solving to bring revolutionary products to market
  • Experience generating creative approaches to advertising products to new and existing markets, while using an analytical approach to drive decisions on where to market
  • Experience marketing analytics or visualization software a big plus

Senior Data Engineer (San Francisco, CA)

StreetLight Data is seeking a strong data engineer to be part of our growing Engineering team.  This team member will work on automating and scaling our data processing pipeline, and develop and productize new analytics algorithms into the StreetLight InSight platform.  This position reports to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement components within the StreetLight InSight data processing pipeline (from raw input files to optimized tables used for analyses).
  • Tune the StreetLight InSight  processing pipeline for performance and scalability, and automate it to allow for for hands-off operations.
  • Develop new analytics algorithms, using a deep understanding of the raw data.
  • Implement customized analytics for clients in collaboration with Sales.
  • Work with Product Management and Application teams to productize data analytics algorithms into the StreetLight InSight web application.
  • Contribute to science projects as appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BS / MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or an Engineering discipline from a top university.
  • 5+ years experience as a software or data engineer at an enterprise software/analytics company.
  • 5+ years experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and SQL, including strong understanding of concepts.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, and 3+ years experience in Java and/or Python.
  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data is a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistics and/or science is a plus.

Data Scientist (San Francisco, CA)

StreetLight Data is seeking a creative, versatile, and motivated Data Scientist to be part of our growing team. This team member will lead data science projects to develop exciting new algorithms for our product, as well as help productize those algorithms into our scalable StreetLight InSight analytics platform. This position reports to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design algorithms to infer key transportation patterns from various data sources.
  • Research and implement suitable strategies (e.g. regression models, neural networks, etc.) for solving data science problems.
  • Find and build real-world data sets for training various models and doing quality checks.
  • Productize data science algorithms within the StreetLight InSight Data platform, in collaboration with the Application Engineering team.
  • Create visualizations and dashboards to help tell stories with data.
  • Define and implement customized and/or cutting-edge solutions for customers.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS / MS in Mathematics, Computer Science or an Engineering discipline from a top university.
  • 5-8 years of experience in data science and/or statistics, using tools such as R or Python.
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), and good understanding of relational concepts.
  • Strong understanding of techniques in data science (machine learning algorithms, regression analysis, etc.).
  • Strong data analysis skills, knowing what can / cannot be possible, and ability to visualize data in the best way possible.
  • Good communication skills - written, visual (presentations), and verbal.
  • Ability to deliver adequate results on deadline, and make compromises to enable scalability and productization of algorithms.
  • Geo-spatial skills are a plus.

Software Engineer/Senior Software Engineer (Vancouver, Canada)

StreetLight Data is seeking a high caliber software engineer to be part of our growing team. This team member will work on both the frontend and backend of the StreetLight InSight SaaS web application that our subscription customers use to explore and visualize travel patterns in the real world. This position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain customer-facing features, including both frontend and backend components, in the StreetLight InSight SaaS web application and analytics serving pipeline.
  • Deliver product releases to production each month.
  • Write automated unit tests and participate in peer design and code reviews.
  • Collaborate daily with the other developers and QA engineers on the team as well as with Product Management.
  • Productize analytics handoffs from the Data Science and Data Engineering team.
  • Tune StreetLight InSight for performance, scalability, and reliable operation to serve our growing customer base.
  • Assist Support and Operations in resolving production issues when needed, and improve the product to avoid them in the future.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BS / MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or an Engineering discipline from a top university.
  • 3-10 years experience as a software engineer at a software product company, preferably in an enterprise market.
  • Competence and interest in both frontend and backend web development.

Product Support Engineer (Richmond, VA or San Francisco, CA)

StreetLight Data is seeking a Product Support Engineer to help our clients solve transportation problems using StreetLight InSight, our online platform. This team member will work closely with planners, modelers, and engineers, helping them put Big Data to work for transportation.

In addition to providing comprehensive support and training, the Product Support Engineer will play a key role in developing new materials and best practices that ensure our clients use StreetLight InSight to its maximum potential. As a Product Support Engineer, you are the direct link between the customer and StreetLight Data team and maintain our excellent customer experience and services. This position reports to the Manager, Support and can be based in either our Richmond, VA or San Francisco, CA office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-level and escalated technical support for users of the StreetLight InSight platform.
  • Develop clear tutorials and training videos to show how StreetLight InSight can answer key transportation questions.
  • Run regular and on-demand training webinars for new users. Create and maintain support content and FAQs.
  • Manage a high volume of inbound requests in a timely and organized manner. Improve processes to handle support requests.
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Engineering and Product Management, to make StreetLight InSight as easy-to-use as possible.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BS and/or MS from an Engineering, Environmental Analysis, Transportation, Urban Planning, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years experience in a Technical Support, Customer Support, or Product related role for an enterprise software application (or similar).
  • Advanced experience with Excel, and comfortable working with data, identifying patterns and data manipulation.
  • Excellent written as well as verbal communication skills. This job requires talking and interacting with customers on a daily basis, and writing/editing technical content for our online support center on a weekly basis.
  • Quick learner, with a problem-solving ability and strong understanding of user needs.
  • Be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow, design, and rethink processes.
  • Be flexible and ready to work in a fast-paced, evolving start-up environment, and be a self-starter while also working efficiently with a team.
  • Bonus points for the following: experience working in transportation engineering/consulting, transportation agencies, or urban planning; geospatial tools (such as QGIS or ArcGIS), statistics,  writing/creating technical documentation.
